Introduction

DEPARTMENT OF CHEMISTRY

      Çankırı Karatekin University Chemistry Department was established as one of the 12 departments deemed appropriate by the Council of Higher Education upon the proposal of our university following the establishment of the Faculty of Science with Law No. 5662, which was published in the Official Gazette dated May 29, 2007 and numbered 26536. In parallel with the opening of the Institute of Science in 2007, the Chemistry Department, which entered a rapid development process, started postgraduate and doctoral education with the decisions taken at the general assembly meetings of the Council of Higher Education dated 25.11.2010 and 23.12.2010, respectively. The department started its education-training activities in 2010 and produced its first graduates in 2014.

      The Chemistry Department carries out education-training and research activities in undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs with its young, dynamic, and qualified expert staff (6 Professors, 3 Associate Professors, 2 Assistant Professors, 2 Research Assistants, 1 Lecturer). The undergraduate program offered in the Department of Chemistry is a vocational program designed to train students who follow developments in their field, are open to innovations, and are extremely enthusiastic about research and development activities. Students who graduate from the Department of Chemistry are given the title of Chemist (Chemistry Bachelor`s Degree). The 4-year Chemistry undergraduate program consists of 5 main branches: Analytical Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, Inorganic Chemistry, Physical Chemistry, and Biochemistry.

      The aim of our department to train chemists who are questioning, can think analytically, can constantly follow studies in the field of science and technology, can conduct R&D studies at national and international levels, and can publish these as original articles and patents.
